Hi tiaWhen you don't use the computer for a while, Screen saver will works to prevent the CRT and the plasma monitors from getting defect ( screen burn). this doesnt apply to LCD monitors. When your computer is entering sleep mode, the display power will shutdown to save energy and that means simply no more any activities on the screen like for example screen saver. If you set screen saver time to 10 minutes and display power off time to 20 minutes..you can enjoy a screen saver theme for 10 minutes before the power goes off.To activait screen saver, right click on the desktop, personalize, right down the new pop up window, click on the screen saver icon.

I have power sleep set to 20 min.I never see a screen saver (I have tried lots of different ones, both MS and others).Yet the machine is quite idle enough to allow it to go to sleep at 20 min of idle.(tia = thanks in advance)KrisKris -------- Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P, E7200 2.53@3.8ghz, 2x1gb OCZ Reaper1150@1203, EVGA 9800GTX+ N873 , BFG GS-650, Vista Ult 32 SP1 / Win 7 7000

Hi Kris,Is your mouse a wireless mouse? try to move the pointer to the edge of the screen or out of it if possiable and check.Other possiablity is, do you have ATI video card? then you should update it to the latest driver available.

However, there is definitely something preventing the screensaver apparatus from timingout.Kris -------- Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P, E7200 2.53@3.8ghz, 2x1gb OCZ Reaper1150@1203, EVGA 9800GTX+ N873 , BFG GS-650, Vista Ult 32 SP1 / Win 7 7000

Hi KrisM77, Based on my knowledge, the following registry key may block screensaver. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\ScreenSaveActive If the ScreenSaveActive value is 0, please change it to 1. In addition, please check if the SCRNSAVE.EXE has a valid value. Hope it helps.

I appreciate the thought.But... ScreenSaveActive was 1 and SCRNSAVE.EXE was C:\Windows\system32\Ribbons.scrThanks anyway!Kris -------- Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P, E7200 2.53@3.8ghz, 2x1gb OCZ Reaper1150@1203, EVGA 9800GTX+ N873 , BFG GS-650, Vista Ult 32 SP1 / Win 7 7000

Sorry for wasting people's time.My bad - faulty testing.AutumnWave OnAirGT scheduler task in task bar systray did it. This would only be needed if I wanted to schedule a not-present recording. It can be easily started if needed.Again, sorry. Kris -------- Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P, E7200 2.53@3.8ghz, 2x1gb OCZ Reaper1150@1203, EVGA 9800GTX+ N873 , BFG GS-650, Vista Ult 32 SP1 / Win 7 7000
